![]() ![]() ![]() Oh we can talk about the failures of the war against plains Indians. Pretty sure right before Custer died, he was screaming that. Yeah no one has ever said call in the Cavalry No one ever screams “CAV scout!!! I need a CAV scout!!!” Unless there’s an unsucked dick. The second largest will come to patch up your booboos when you scream for them. ![]() The largest MOS in the Army will still be there to protect you while you sleep. Got where? Oh somewhere you’re going to sit, for hours in your fucking box.Ī box who’s seriously threatened by guys on foot. Keep going!? LOL,I got there 20 minutes ago baby! The point of a Cav Squadron is to provide early waring, time, and maneuver space (Also to kill enemy recon elements) to the rest of the BDE without tying up one of your CABs or IN BN.īrads are awesome killing machines and are a good recon Vic “IF” you’re doing recon against enemy armor. Again you would have to give up a BN to pull a Screen, Guard or Cover. You also would have to give up an IN BN to do the security mission that Cav Squadrons are responsible for. Or if you’re doing Recon in force you’re showing part of you hand of what your maneuver BN capabilities are. You’re giving up a maneuver battalion to do a recon mission that they aren’t trained for. The issue with getting rid of Cav Squadrons is now you don’t have a trained element to do terrain based recon for a BDE, Corps, Div, etc. 11B wanna kill and use their direct fire weapons when it’s better for a Scout to call for fire in most situations. Even though I did have to keep the 11B jr enlisted rains a little tighter than my 19D jr enlisted when in a BN Scout platoon. That’s not a difficult mission to train 11B to do. Likewise, the SSG who was a 19D yesterday, is woefully unprepared to be a 11B the day he shoes up at his new duty station.īoth can succeed in the new job tasks, but neither will be an expert in the field, they may become competent (most do), but is that what we want in our leaders? If that's all we want, "good enough"īuy more body bags, future generations of military folks are going to need them.I agree with some of what you said but disagree with other things.īN Scouts are no longer 11B for the majority of the force.īN Scouts do low level enemy based recon for a BN or conduct link up with Cav Squadrons to do a passage of lines. the expertise needed to be a 19D at the highest level of training for all duty positions is not something you can master in a few weeks when you PCS to a new unit and suddenly go from 11B SQD LDR to mounted or dismounted previously coded 19D position. The same holds true for a 19D.yes, like an 88M, 92G, 31V, a 19D may occasionally be used as a dismount, a mounted wheeled vehicle patrol, defensive position member. Like combining 11M and 11B, we took a career field where a dedicated demographic could become experts in their equipment, training, tactics, and knowledge of deployment needs and watered it down by lumping them in with 11B.operating as a 11B is completely different than operating as an armored fighting vehicle crewmen. The vehicle dismounts can be cross trained easily the Crew and your 11B sqd leader not so much. What you suggest brings to mind the saying "Jack of all trades, master of none"
